• Damping off or stem and root rotting
• Anthracnose (flower, fruit and leaf)
• Alternaria fruit spot (leaf, flower and fruit)
• Phytophthora palmivora
• Cladosporium sp. (internal blight)
• Rhizopus stolonifer (soft rot)
• Mycosphaerella
• Mosaic virus
• Papaya ringspot virus
• Apical necrosis (Papaya apical necrosis rhabdovirus)

Virosis (a disease caused by one or more viruses)

Recommended measure

In order to keep plants in good conditions, it is important to observe the following aspects:

1. To apply fungicide products in a preventive way during the entire growing cycle. The product rotation is very important (systematic or contact product) including specific products used to eliminate common fungi, which affect the fruit's quality.

Basic products that can be applied by a products' rotation:

• Tecto 60 ®(Tiabendazol 60%) 1-2 grs./ Lt.
• Benlate ®(Benomilo 50%) 1gr. / Lt.
• Manzate ®(Mancozeb 80%) 2-3 grs. / Lt.
• Capt? ®(Captán 50%) 2-3 grs. / Lt.
• Ridomil Gold Bravo 76.5 pH ® (Metalaxil M4.4% + Clorotalonil 72%)2-3 grs./ Lt.

During dry seasons, these products must be applied every 12-15 days and in rainy seasons; every 6-8 days.

2. Antibiotics application (continually):

• Terramicina Agrícola 5% (Oxitetraciclina 6.66%) 400 grs. x 200 litros de agua.
• Agrimycin 100 ® (Estreptomicina 18.75% + Oxitetraciclina 2.0 %) 200 grs. x 200 litros de agua.
• Agrimycin 500 ® (Estreptomicina 2.2 % + Oxitetraciclina 0.235% + Sulfato Tribásico de cobre monohidratado 78.52%) 500 a 600 grs. x 100 litros de agua.

 

3. Mantener un muestreo sistemático de plagas que puedan incidir en el cultivo y a partir de detectarse una o varias plagas en específico, aplicar los productos que ejercen el control sobre las mismas.

 

4. In case of problems with whiteflies:

• Confidor 350 SC ®(Imidachloprid 30. 2%) at a rate of 0.75- 1 ml. Per water liter
• Herald 375 ®(Fenpropatrin 38.5%) at a rate of 1- 1.5 ml. Per water liter
  

 

5. In case of problems with mites:

• Agrimec 1.8 ®(Abamectina 1.8%) at a rate of 200-250 ml. / 200 liter container
• Rogor 400 ®(Dimetoato 40%) at a rate of 200-300 ml. / 200 liter container
• Tamarón 600 ®(Metamidofos 48.3%) 200-250 ml. / 200 liter container
• Herald 375 ®(Fenpropatrin 38.5) at a rate of 200-250 ml. / 200 liter container
• Pyramite ®(Pyradaben 60%) 32 to 66 grs. per 200 water liters.
• Azufre Agríola (elemental sulphur 93%) 25 a 60 Kg. / acre.
  

 

6. When plant louses attack plants, the products mentioned above can be applied, with the exception of Agrimec 1.8 C.E. ®(Abamectina 1.8%). But also it is possible to apply Malathión 500 ®(Malathión 50.9%) at a rate of 2.0 -2.5 ml. / water liter.

 

7. In case of problems with nematodes, some insecticide-nematocides can be applied such as Temik 15 G ®(Aldicarb 15%) o Furadán 5G ®(Carbofurán 5% applied directly to soil.
